Description
This is a picture of a cancer survivor, exactly two weeks after a breast reconstruction / surgery, following a full mastectomy about two years earlier.
New breast with transplanted tissue is shown with the visible incision lines.
Breast reconstruction is a corrective type of surgery for women who have had all or part of a breast removed. The surgery rebuilds the breast mound so that it is about the same size or smaller (in case of a larger breast) as it was before. In some cases, if the other breast is intact and larger than the new one, that one can be reduced in size and firmed up. The nipple and the darker area around the nipple (areola) can be also added in a separate follow-up procedure.

Thanks Pamela. It is hard to get advice in similar circumstances. Hopefully, this picture and brief description will help others.
